Hollywood Stories

Stephen Schochet

Short, entertaining Anecdotes about the stars and legends of the movies!

My Take:

I had SO much fun reading this book!  There were about a zillion stories about everything and everyone from old old Hollywood to recent blockbusters like Harry Potter.  The stories are separated into different categories, so that you can easily jump around and read only what you are interested in, and there is also an index if you are looking for info on a specific person or movie.  Some of my favorite categories were Leading Men and Leading Ladies Lore, Great Hollywood Anecdotes, Walt Disney Stories and Great Hollywood Comedians.  If you are a movie buff like me (yes, I am both a Book Buff and Movie Buff, though books trump movies for me :) you will get a kick out of this must read.  Basically, I absolutely loved this book, and don't have much more to say about it, so I think I'll end my review with some fun "Didja Know?"s I gleaned from the book.  Didja know that Sean Connery once avoided jail in Morocco by shouting "I'm 007!  I'm 007!" after having left his passport on set?  Didja know that the real Maria von Trapp greeted Christopher Plummer, the actor portraying her husband, with a big kiss on the lips exclaiming "My Heavens, darling, I wished my real husband had looked as good as you!"?  Didja know that Walt Disney's daughter once asked him for an autograph while saying "Daddy, you never told me you were that Walt Disney!"? 2, Borders with a Coupon

Do you agree with my review?  Do you think I'm totally off base?  Either way I'd love to hear from you, be sure to leave a comment and tell me how you feel!

If this book were a movie it would likely be rated a light PG-13 for references to antics of the stars.  Light references to sex drugs, violence etc.
