GASP! I'm branching out! Eeek!

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you may know that I have OCD, and if you didn't already know, well, now you do.  I've always been a little OCD with my postings, i.e. 1 post = 1 review, but there are so many fun things I've wanted to do, but my self imposed posting limitations have made that a bit difficult.  So I've decided to ***GASP!*** change things up a bit!  Now, along with my usual reviews, I'm going to be posting book news, book thoughts, memes and other fun things.  Now, don't laugh at me but this change is really nerve racking for a creature of habit such as myself.  So while I get this whole thing figured out, show me some love and send me some comments so I don't feel like such a dufus!

So for my first foray into the wild randomness of the bookish thoughts swirling around in my head, I'm going to make a list of some of the books I've been wanting to read forever, but just haven't gotten around to it for one reason or another.  So go ahead and leave me a comment or two on just how badly I am missing out :)

1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  Yes I know, these are the best books ever according to just about everyone, but I haven't gotten around to it yet!  Sue me!

2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan.  I saw the movie, I liked the movie, I'm sure the books are better, they always are.  I plan on reading the books, but there are a lot of them, and I'm just a wee bit too broke at the moment to go out and buy em all.

3. The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare.  I started reading the first book in this series and I was HOOKED but then my TBR stack of books authors had sent me to review was getting a bit behind, so I had to abandon the books.  I can't complain though, I got all of those books for free!

4. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling. SIKE!  Gotcha!  I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, I've read them all a bazillion times.  I love them and I can debate all the nitty gritty details with the best of 'em, just wanted to make sure you were paying attention!

So tell me, what are you out of the loop on?  Don't be shy!

I haven't read The Hunger Games or Percy Jackson books either. I'm waiting for The Hunger Games to make it to kindle over here in the UK, then I can join virtually everyone else in the world and read it.

I haven't read The Hunger Games yet either they're in my TBR pile. And the Harry Potter series is constantly in my TBR pile because I read them over and over!

I don't like it when my TBR pile is too large, because then I have trouble choosing what to read first! I hope you get to read these soon. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only person out there that hasn't read The Hunger Games yet, it was beginning to feel like I was all alone! Thanks for the support in branching out!

I have the Hunger Games and I still haven't read it even though everyone else goes "READ IT NOW BITCH!" when they learn this. I LOVE the Mortal Instruments Series. I don't want to finish City Of Glass because I don't have City of Fallen Angels yet. I don't want it to end darn it!

I love most of these books that you haven't read yet. :) I wasn't much of a reader until I picked up The Hunger Games, so I think they're amazing. And the Harry Potter books converted my husband to reading.
I just hope they haven't been too hyped up for you! I'm always sad when I go into a book expecting it to be the best thing ever and then it's just ok.
Hope you like them :)

So excited you'll be branching out! *Gulp* I loved the Hunger Games but thought Percy Jackson was just okay... haven't read the Mortal Instruments series.

Hope to see you around in a meme or two!!!

LOVE Harry Potter too. Can't wait for the last movie to come out this summer. I really want to read the Percy Jackson books too. You know you don't have to buy them. you can always just check them out of the library.

@kathy,I am pretty good at keeping my expectations at bay, I've never found myself disappointed due to overhyping :) I'm glad harry potter got your husband into reading, same thing with my brother :)

@twobibliomaniacs, I'm mostly just excited to read Percy Jackson because I've always been obsessed with Greek Mythology and I always love to see it modernized :)

@Cathy, I'm such a dinkus I didn't even think about the library! Duh! Thanks :)

HG was awesome. Because of that, I've decided to try out Divergent.
Percy Jackson is on my TBR. I'm working on Outlander right now, which took me a while to get started but now it's the book I read before bed. Its one I've heard about forever but never cared to start- just like Hunger Games.
I read the first Mortal Instruments, but havent read any more because the library has been out of the second one. So I picked up #1 of the Internal Devices series. Same thing- sorta.
I keep hearing great things about The Name of the Wind, but I haven't tried that one yet...

I haven't read Mortal Instruments yet, but really want to, they are on my list, I've heard good things.

Good for you, breaking from habit! It is a nice feeling once you get used to it and do your posts in either odd or even numbers, whatever you prefer. ;)
LOVE the HP books as well. Love the movies and am waiting for the final one.
I have read the first Percy Jackson book, The Lightning Thief and liked it. But like you, have to wait til I can afford the other books. Libraries and I don't get along well at all. Late fees and all. Which is why I adore Netflix because I am the same with renting movies.
Have a great week!

@Holley, my brother in law has been after me to read the Name of the Wind for months, he'll probably be doing a guest review of it here on THe Book Buff pretty soon :)

@barmybex, I can't wait to read Hunger Games, I know I'm missing out :)

I have not read Hunger Games or Mortal Instruments yet, but I'm going to soon!! I also have not read Harry Potter if you can believe it.. I'm sure I'm the only one!

I did read the first Percy Jackson book. It's pretty young, but it's a cute, fun story. :o) Enjoy!

These are basically all of my favorite books LOL.

Congrats on branching out!

I've got the Percy Jackson series in my TBR pile also.

You'll love all the rest of them. They were fantastic. I'm reading the last of the City of Bones series right now.

Step out of that comfort zone! :) Good for you. HUNGER GAMES is on my summer list, too.

I think I may officially be worse off then you. I read only half of the Hunger Games. I couldn't finish it.

I've yet to pick up any of the Percy novels. I loved City of Bones but I have never made my way to the next in the series. I've only read a few HP books... 10 years ago.

Hmm... *ducks* Don't flog me!

Zombies are for May!  Morbid Romantica Challenge links are up for Zombies along with a few book ideas.  Some I myself will be trying out! Stop by and let me know which Zombie book I should be reading!

I'm usually out of the loop on everything, or at least way behind the times... Although I have to say the only ones on your list that I haven't at least tried are the Percy Jackson ones.

I only just got to the Hunger Games so don't feel bad. I finished the first one yesterday.

Kate the Book Buff said...

@Mickey-drink the KoolAid! Read Harry Potter!

@Allison-that's why I feel so out of the loop, they are everyone's favorites!

@Joy-let me know what you think about Percy Jackson:)

@Tracy-yay someone else who hasn't read Hunger Games, I don't feel so alone anymore!

@MadScientist-I will spare you your deserved flogging ONLY because your awesome steampunkness is so fantastic

@Cat-less people have read Percy Jackson than the others because they are a bit young for a lot of people.

@Alexis, so if you just finished the first one yesterday, you'll probably have the series finished by today :) everyone says they just fly through them!

p.s. I love you all for supporting me in my first non review post, your feedback has made me feel so much better about branching out!

Just keep Emma Pillsbury in mind.... little steps at first are a big change. ;)

You just about gave me a heart attack with the Harry Potter thing lol. This is my first time visiting your blog and just from scrolling down and browsing, I thought 'omg she hasn't read Harry Potter???' haha. I just recently got into the loop with Hunger Games, I think I was the last person on earth to even hear about the books and it was my 60-year-old cousin who told me about them because she loved them. I've read all 3 of them now, though. I haven't read the others you mentioned (except HP of course), but they're on my list too, so don't feel bad about being behind! So many books, so little time.
