Speed Dating

One minute I'm locked out of my hotel room, and the next... Dylan Hargreave thinks I'm an actress paid to pose as his girlfriend at a North Carolina society wedding. How did this happen to me, of all people? Kendall Clarke, award-winning actuary, the veritable shining star of number crunchers who, just hours ago, learned her responsible fiancé (sorry, ex-fiancé) called off our wedding because he'd gotten one of my colleagues pregnant. What are the odds? Don't tell me you've never heard of Dylan Hargreave. Celebrity NASCAR driver? People magazine's Sexiest Man of the Year? Those eyes. That smile... Forget sensible! I've assessed the risk...and I'm taking it! I usually keep the brakes on, but as of now I'm taking a vacation. From me.

My Take:
I am borderline ashamed at how much I loved this dinky little romance novel.  The beginning of "Speed Dating" was awesome, it started out strong and fast.  Later on, the story got a bit stagnant and dragged a bit, but overall I had a ton of fun reading this book.  The characters were cute and a bit quirky, I mean, how many romance novels are centered around risk assessors?  There really isn't much to say about this book, it is really fun to read.  Will it change your life?  Is it deep or poignant?  Will it be on a must read before you die list?  Nope.  Doesn't matter, it's not the point of the book.  I am all about appreciating books for what they are.  This author isn't trying to be the next Jane Austen.  The book does not challenge you in any way shape or form, it is pure unapologetic entertainment.  This book would be great to read when you are bored out of your mind, like on an airplane.  It will definitely take your mind off of your boredom, but not much beyond that.  I was lucky enough to get this book free on my Amazon Kindle, but, if I saw "Speed Dating" in a used book store for a dollar, I think it would be a dollar well spent, but not much beyond that.  I am therefore giving this book a 3, Buy at a Used Book Store.  It is a TON of fun (especially the escapade at the beginning of the book) but it will not change your life.

Do you agree with my review?  Do you think I'm totally off-base?  Either way I'd love to hear from you, be sure to leave a comment and tell me how you feel!

If this book were a movie, it would be a very mild PG-13, due to minor sexual references.

It sounds like a good beach read, if I ever see it, I'll have to pick it up! =]

And also, I love your rating system! It's very original, and I find myself ranking books on their 'buyability' as well.
