Hide in Plain Site

Marta Perry

"Please God, if you're listening, keep Rachel safe." She couldn't turn her back on her family in their time of need. So when her sister was injured, financial expert Andrea Hampton traded the big city for Amish country to help turn her grandmother's house into an inn. But life with the Plain People took a treacherous turn when a string of accidents and pranks threatened her family. Someone didn't want the secrets the old house harbored to come to light. Trusting anyone-even the handsome carpenter who seemed so genuine-was a battle for Andrea, but her life depended on her ability to find the truth.

My Take:

I am sitting down to write this review a few days after I read the book, I can honestly say I couldn't remember much about it, until I went back to my Kindle and read the notes I'd taken down.  This does not bode well for "Hide in Plain Site".  After browsing my notes, it all came back, I did enjoy this book, the characters were likable and it was fun to read a book that dealt with the Amish community.  However, I have to say that I guessed the bad guy at their first appearance.  Now, I'm not sure if it was obvious, or if it was my freakish ability to guess the villain, but either way, the big villain reveal was not up to par with, say, James Patterson.  In a Patterson, half the time you are so shocked you gasp and keel over nearly dead (an exaggeration, yes, but if you've read some of the more exciting Pattersons, you know what I mean)  So this was a good book to kill some time, and I got it free on my Kindle so I really can't complain.  However, the romance brewing was good, but felt unsatisfying in the end, even though it ended up how romances should.  I'd say this book is worth a read, but not spending money, so a 4, Borrow From a Friend.  One word to describe "Hide in Plain Site"-underwhelming.

Do you agree with my review?  Do you think I'm totally off base?  Either way I'd love to hear from you, be sure to leave a comment and tell me how you feel!

If you enjoyed this book, take a look at the Romance Section of The Book Buff.

If this book were a movie, it would likely be rated PG, due to some intense situations.

I had this on my tbr list, but when I found it was a "love inspired", I gave it second thoughts. Thanks for the review.

Ouch! I hope people remember my book after a couple of days! You're quite generous recommending it anyway.

I love your reviews! They're always straightforward and to the point.

I've read a few books like this, ones that are easily forgetable. You said it was free, though, so it was worth the read!

I like Marta Perry. This is my first visit to your reviews and I enjoyed the review. Sounds like a good book to read while the guys watch soccer.

It sounded interesting but I'm glad you reviewed it as I'm in love with James Patterson and Harlan Coben mysteries so I don't think I'll bother with this one.
