Guest Review-Three Wishes

***This is a guest review by a very talented writer, and my friend, Jenn.  I hope you all enjoy her way with words as much as I, hopefully, we will have more guest posts by her in the future.  Be sure to leave a comment about how much you love her :)***

Liane Moriarty

"Sisters, for all their similarities, can be entirely unique, based upon their individual experiences, beliefs and perception.  Three Wishes follows three deeply connected sisters through a year of their lives. Not only are Lyn, Cat and Gemma Kettle sisters, but they are triplets. As evidenced at the get-go, these three could not be any more different from one another. The story is not just a journey through 365 days, but rather a stroll through the memories, mind and soul of each woman, from their childhood home in Australia, to moments of extremes- from one's monotonous day in Australia, at exactly the same moment another enjoys life and finds bliss in Europe, both entirely unaware of the third's silent torment, so close to home."

My take:

I believe it true that most times, less is more. This book is perfectly simple. There is a purity, a raw honesty that I find endearing. The perspective and narrative offered by seemingly unknowing characters humanized the three woman, and I felt as though I knew them, that I had known them my entire life. Moriarty allows us to sneak onto the shoulder of each Kettle, so that we are shocked at the same moment each of them is surprised, we laugh with them and want nothing more than to be able, at times, to comfort them in their moments of need. The way the story unfolds is almost as though each chapter is another delicious layer of birthday cake - rich, savory and sweet. We are allowed to connect with the characters as they learn the truth about one another, one another's reason for being who and how they are, and we witness them each learn the truth within themselves. I am grateful to have ready this book and would certainly recommend this to every female who has ever felt lost, hopeless, humbled or broken. I've always known nothing is perfect, but it is because of the three Kettle sisters that I now understand it is truly the imperfections that make life beautiful.
I would rate this a 1, Pay Full Price Guilt Free. This is a book you will read time and again.

Do you agree with my review?  Or do you think I'm totally off base?  Either way I'd love to hear from you, be sure to leave a comment and tell me how you feel.

It this book were a movie, it would probably be rated PG13- for sensuality, some language, brief, descriptive violence, and sexual references.
