Bite Me

Parker Blue

An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between Young Adult and Adult fiction. Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hell-hound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.

My Take:

I just loved this fun little book.  It was very refreshing, as it wasn't centered around a vampire, but rather, a girl that is part succubus, and learning to deal with it.  Also, many books of this genre tend to take themselves very seriously, whereas, this book is very funny due to the sarcastic heroine and her snarky little mind-reading hell-hound/succubus' best friend. I felt like the writing was very engaging, and the characters were great.  If you are a Joss Whedon fan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog) you will very likely enjoy this book, it has a similar light feel to it.  I mean come on, just because you are shoving a sharp piece of wood through an undead legionnaire doesn't mean you have to lose your sense of humor, right?  All in all, if you enjoy the genres of young adult, or paranormal, or both, you will enjoy this book.  I give this book a rating of a 3, Find a Used Book Store.

Do you agree with my review?  Do you think I'm off base?  Either way I'd love to hear from you, be sure to leave a comment and tell me how you feel.

If this book were a movie, it would likely be rated PG-13 for a visit to a strip club (doesn't describe in detail) and a common mentioning of lust throughout (it is about a succubus after all) but no explicit sexual content

Looks interesting! I'm definitely a young adult fiction reader. It's my guilty pleasure. Currently reading Burned right now, and I can't wait to see what your take on it is!
